MA Fields
The Citadel
CQB - Worcester
The Citadel is New England’s largest indoor "CQB" field. Staged in an old warehouse this field consists of two floors with a third possibly to come. The first floor houses the Proshop and the Staging area. When you walk in the front door there is a wall with a few rifles on it, a large display case with some Magpul accessories and other internal upgrades, and a couple of display cases housing internal and external accessories as well as some pistols. They offer M4A1 rifles as rentals that come with 2 midcap magazines and a full face mask for $20.00. The next room is the staging area. This is a very large room that houses over 20 tables and plenty of space for people to set their stuff down and get ready. They built a "lounge" for relaxing before, during, in-between and after games with couches and TV's. Parents who are waiting for their children while they play are more than welcome to go and sit down and watch them run around on the TV that shows several different cameras placed throughout the field. The Chrono for this field is upstairs right before you enter the first spawn area. The field limit is 350FPS with .25g and the Ref will mark your gun after Chrono. When you are ready to go, a Ref will separate teams as evenly as possible, leaving team members together if possible, announce the game type that will be played and declare spawn sides. The first section of the field that you encounter is the "Speedball" area. This is the largest of the rooms the Citadel has to offer. There are halls, rooms, corners and the entire area is partial lit or dark depending on shadows. The "Speedball" area branches off towards three other rooms, "Ice Cream" room, "Fan" room and the "Office Hallways". The "Ice Cream" room is the next largest room to play in and has almost no light what-so-ever. This room is filed with tables and pallet towers offering cover as well as a room at the far end for the rolling respawn. The "Ice Cream" room has only one other entrance/exit other than "Speedball" and that is the two large openings that lead to what is called the "Fan" room. The "Fan" room has a total of three entrances/exits, the first being the "ice Cream" room. The second is a long dark hallway that leads back towards the "Speedball" and the third leads directly into the "Offices". There is very little cover in the "Fan" room other than the "Pig Pen" located against a wall. There are two entrances into the "Offices", one being a doorway that has a direct path to the center main Office and the other is a crawl space that leads into a room off to the side of the main hallway. The "Offices" are just that, offices, with 5 or 6 rooms, a lot of shadowed areas and a "jail cell". There are three entrances into the "Offices" first being the "Fan" room, second the "Office Hallways" and third the "Speedball" hallway that also leads to the fan room. Each style of game play utilizes different rooms more effectively and each room plays a crucial role for strategic advancement. The Staff at the Citadel are very nice and knowledgeable. If you have any questions from weaponry to how to play a game to just asking why the sky is blue, they will come up with an answer for you. The staff is also made up of the Citadels home team, Citadel Tactical Unit or CTU. CTU is a group of very experienced operators who built the field and take the game very seriously. When CTU decides to play, they are a force to be reckoned with. A majority of the field is modular and can be changed around giving players a new atmosphere to play in. With the Citadel being as large as it is, the spawn points are always moving so trying to keep track of who has gained control over which sections of the field can get confusing at times and make it impossible to find the spawn points. Also while it is a pro for some it is a con for other, the lack of lighting. A flashlight or some type of illumination is almost mandatory for play at the Citadel. This creates a different field feel, and the style of game play you use changes, but the option to have light or no light would be a great addition. The last thing that is a con for the Citadel is the lack of communication between Ref's and players when a game is over. It is hard for players to know when the game is over because the Ref has to go around to each room finding people and telling them that the game is over. They used to announce it over a loud speaker but that seemed to have disappeared. The cost is $25.00 to play there which Tuesdays are two for the price of one and Fridays, ladies play free. There is also a yearly membership that is required to play as well which is only also $25.00.
Pros:
Large field with different rooms, not much lighting, amazing airsmith on staff, price
Cons:
not much lighting, small proshop selection (growing), rolling spawns are confusing at times
Overall:
I would say that this is one of the best places to play in MA. The size of the field and the people who play there give you a wide variety of skill levels to challenge you. I would rate this field 8/10 only because of the confusing spawn points and minimal Refs.

Reload
CQB - Attleboro
Reload is a small "CQB" field with the emphasis on close. When you show up to the field, you walk into a store front with a decent selection for a proshop. There are about seven or eight tables for placing gear on so space is limited. Their selection is very decent in that there are some rifles on the back wall, pistols in one glass case, accessories like optics and AI Tornados in the next while upgrades are mixed in throughout. The gear is on another wall and ranges from chest rigs to balaclavas. The briefing room is also small and does not hold that many people comfortably. When you move onto the field you’ll notice that the walls are all solid and nothing is modular. The field is basically a ring of rooms with two bigger rooms in the center. When you start from your spawn you can weave your way through the halls and across the bigger rooms to gain a vantage point. There are very few times you will not be engaged on this field. The area is very tight but nicely done. The hall corners and cover in the rooms give you a chance to jump up or around and surprise the OpFor. There are only two real game types that can be played in this field and those are TMD and Capture the Flag. There are two flags on pulley systems at either end of the two bigger rooms in the center so it is more of a capture and hold instead of just capture and return. The lighting is the best part of the entire field. Since there are no external light sources the field can be entirely controlled. They offer you the choice of full lights, no lights, or accent lights only. The accent lights include strobes, emergency lights, colored LED and black lights. This gives you different environments and style of gameplay in the same field. The biggest problem is that it is open to the public for not only airsoft but also Laser Tag. So in between rounds, Laser Tag can be issued a game and take up time from your day forcing you to wait.
Pro:
Lighting control, always in engagement
Cons:
very small
Overall:
With the size and the lighting control countering each other I would rate this field 7/10 only because of the Laser Tag issue. If this field was strictly airsoft it would easily get an 8/10.

BattleGroundZ.net
CQB - Attleboro
BattleGroundZ is a very small CQB area in southern MA. The facility is in an old school and is looks as small on the outside as it is on the inside. They have a large staging area and a nice selection in their proshop. They have everything from guns to gear and bbs to grenades. There is also a tech on staff to help with your problematic guns. The field can be walked from end to end in under a minute without a problem. There are three sections in the field that all offer ways to get from one to the other with connecting doorways. The left hallway coming from the staging area is almost completely void of cover with the occasional door mounted outward or a small wall of barrels. The middle hallway is a maze of doors and halls that all connect and can bring you out to either side at any time. The right hallway has the most cover with walls and small barricades. The refs are nonexistent on the field so when people aren’t calling their hits they usually get away with, at the most, a staff member asking them to call their hits. The owner of the field has zero care for his patrons or how he speaks to them. Specifically when asked if grenades were allowed on the field, his response was, "If you throw a grenade on my field at me, I will ignore the hit and stomp on it until it breaks and then look at you and say sorry bro". Sadly, because of that they lost 8+ customers for life.
Pros:
local field
Cons:
owner's attitude, size of field, no refs,
Overall:
I would rate this field a 4/10 only because it is a local field and they have some nice inventory. If you’re going to buy something you'll be ok but if you are looking to play take the time and head down the road to RELOAD in N. Attleboro. Their field, staff and environment is much better. They also have a similar amount of items in the proshop.

Ultimate Battle Ground
Field - Bourne
UBG is a great field to play at, though when you first pull in, it may look disappointing. There are two main sections with a road divider. The first side is the town that has several buildings and trenches in it. These buildings are used as assets or objectives during games. There is a section of woods in front of the village that lines the divider road. There are trenches, walls, buildings and pipes to use for way points and cover. The Road cuts across the entire width of the field so each side is easily determined. At each end of the road there are perpendicular roads that lead to the village and out to the other half of the field. It creates an H shape allowing for faster, yet unconcealed, movement. Just over the tree line on the other half of the field lays the outposts and objectives. There are five in total, two forward and three rears. In the front line there is FOB Hades, and Skohagen (downed plane), both containing structures that are inhabitable. The three rear objective points are the SAM site, medic tent and fuel depot. There are paths that cross through the woods that give easy access for swift movement but give direct line of site from each objective. Paths have been made by people trudging through the thick brush and around the trees for cover from direct sight. Your movement may be slowed but your cover and surprise is greater. The field allows the use of cold burning smokes which is a plus, considering most other fields either don’t allow them or only the staff can use them. Any pyrotechnics are strictly prohibited so don’t bring a fuse lit grenade and hope to be able to use it. The size of the field is 90 acres but it only utilizes maybe half of that. The remaining area has not yet been constructed on or even made ready to be used. The price of admission to the field is $25.00 with your own equipment and $35.00 with the need of a rental. The field does not have many refs to judge the field but there have not been any problems yet with people not calling hits. The staff and event runners are great and very friendly. They have a very small proshop/tech building to help with problematic guns. The field also offers a map of the layout of the field with the buildings and objective points all marked to the public.
Pros:
good mix of open and covered area, road divider, two separate sides, village for CQB and outposts for field, public map
Cons:
doesn’t use full size, not many refs
Overall:
UBG is a great field to play at for any style game. From 75 people as a minimum to as many as you can get to play this field offers great challenges and a fun time for all. 9/10 is the rating only because they do not utilize the entire field.

Ghost Town PnL Paintball
Field - E. Bridgewater
Depending on the game you’re playing or the event being run, your experience can range from great to poor. The field itself is actually a woods ball and scenario paintball arena but is very suitable for airsoft alike. The area is split up into two sections the first being the wooded field play and the second is Ghost Town. The Wooded field area is a very nice sized field. There are plenty of barricades and buildings for cover as you move. There are sections of brush thick enough for you to move without being seen as well as open areas for those who can sprint quickly. In the middle of the field there is a two floored tri-tower building with catwalks attached to move from building to building. This is called the Freedom Fort and is one of the main objectives in any game. There are a few other buildings in the main field but the Freedom Fort is the primary target of play. Across the street lay a few more buildings and objectives, still part of the field area. There are two floor towers as well as raiser platforms and giant wire spools. The spools can be used as moving cover as you can roll them easily on dry ground. From there, you move into the Ghost Town. Ghost Town is Horseshoe shaped structure with two floors. There are numerous access ramps to on each side and a courtyard in the middle. This CQB area is where a lot of intense firefights take place. There are numerous vantage points both upstairs and down as well as access ramps to flank or divide and conquer the enemy. As long as the event or game is run correctly, this field offers a great day of airsoft.
Pros:
Two floored buildings, Ghost Town, good sized field, a lot of objectives
Cons:
The event or game has to be run correctly for a good day, paint can rub off on your clothing and gear
Overall:
On a good day 8/10 only because some of the paint tends to be non-water-soluble

RI Fields
Extreme Complex
CQB - Wakefield
Extreme Complex is the second largest indoor "CQB" facility in New England and they are still expanding. Extreme Complex is not only an indoor airsoft field but also a paintball field, r/c track and soccer field. They have split the building into three sections with airsoft being the largest. Their store is split into three sections as well, r/c being the smallest, paintball being the decent and airsoft taking up almost 3/4 of space. They have everything from weapons to gear to stickers and patches. There is also a tech on duty and their knowledge is vast. The prices are on par with most other local retailers but their customer service and staff are unsurpassable. Everyone who works there plays the sport so they know what to expect and what the players want.
The staging area for the field is quite large and there are plenty of tables for everyone to be able to sit and get ready. They have rentals for the day and your entry fee also gets you 1000 rounds of your choice, .20 or .25g bbs.
The field is modular so it can change in a matter of days from the last setup you played. They have everything from buildings with windows to climb through and barriers to hide behind, to tires stacked up for cover and a car to shoot from. Full auto fire is allowed with certain missions in this facility which gives it that extra edge over most other "CQB" fields around. The field light source is completely internal and there are no windows so the field environment can change from well-lit field to pitch black with the flip of a switch. There are many ways as to how you can move through the facility with cover from different angles but you have to be quick or you will get pinned down behind a bunker or in a building and become useless. Teamwork is a necessity for this field to move up and complete objectives.
From first time player or weekend warrior to a seasoned veteran, Extreme Complex is a great place to play.
Pros:
Size of field, pro-shop availability and inventory, modular field, lighting change ability
Cons:
Easy to get pinned down,
Overall:
This field is a great place to play no matter what your skill level. They people there playing are always willing to help out anyone and answer any questions there you might have and the staff in great all around.

Field - Fremont
Coming Soon
Feel Good Farm
Field - Lyndeborough
Having played three events on this field we can say without a doubt that we will continue to go back. We have gone from using only the Urban to using the entire field and it doesn't get old. There are many set paths and roads that you can take but you can also use the woods and terrain to move off of the roads. The size of the field is enormous. If you wanted to walk to every objective on the field it would take you about 2 hours. It is built on the side of a mountain so there are ups and downs and a lot of rocks and trees for cover. There are areas of dense vegetation to help conceal you from the enemy and also there are the open roads for fast moving. The Urban is made up of a few buildings, most 1 room, but all big enough to fit 3 people. There are windows, barriers, and Ski-Doo crates that help create bunkers and cover. There can be as little as 30 players or as much as 300 players and there will still be places to move and cover but there will always be contact. One of the best "field" fields available outside of MA. The prep area is a giant grass parking lot that you share with the local Horses. It is nice to be able to walk over and pet the horses you just need to watch our for the mounds they leave behind.
Pros:
Size, availability, changing natural elements
Cons:
No pro shop, horse presents in the staging
Overall:
9/10 for a field. If your playing a game that causes you to respawn at a far end of the field, it is a long walk but its well worth it.
